AUTUMN TIDINGS

21st November 2011

IT'S TIME TO LOOK AHEAD TO SPRING, and to hope for a Winter of bright, chilly days which will please the plants, and put them in fine fettle for flowering. This Winter we can offer an even wider range of auricula cultivars than ever before - we are constantly adding to our Plant Heritage N.C.C.P.G. Collections, and so steadily we can share more of the off-spring to pay for their keep!

POP'S PLANTS ANNUAL AURICULA WEEKEND IN 2012 will be April 28th and 29th. In 2011 we raised £524.00 for the New Forest Carers' Forum - an organisation which helps people who care for loved ones at home. We dodged the thunder storms and over-indulged in cake as usual......Thanks to all who visted and donated, and everyone who gave up their time to help - you were great!

IN 2012, as well as displaying more than 1,200 auriculas in our Collections, we will be dressing the auricula theatres, and members of the National Auricula and Primula Society will be on hand to give advice and answer questions. Put the OPEN WEEKEND in your diary and we look forward to welcoming you. Open 1030-1630 each day, free parking, admission (for charity) £1.00 Adults, children free.

AMONG many other auricula theatres, in 2011 our plants graced the one at the New York Botanical Gardens, and once again the stage in the lovely period gardens of London's Geffrye Museum. Our auriculas certainly get around the world, as well as to many parts of Europe. We send regularly to the USA, Japan and the Falkland Islands. It's really encouraging to see them becoming established in some pretty hostile environments!

WE still have some signed first editions of Allan Guest's beautiful book 'THE AURICULA - A HISTORY, CULTIVATION AND VARIETIES'. The price is £19.95  including shipping in the UK. Ideal for a gift....

THIS is the place to find details of our forthcoming shows, talks and workshops - we will be adding them in due course.

YOU can see some of the stunning plants exhibited by members of the National Auricula and Primula Society on the websites of the three sections. There are links from the website of the Southern Section at www.southernauriculaprimula.org

POP'S PLANTS is proud to be a member of the HORTICULTURAL EXHIBITORS' ASSOCIATION. To see more look at their site at www.virtualflowershowco.uk
